Artists, critics and reporters showed up en masse on Monday to see Yousef Shahin’s new film Sukoot Hansawwar (Quiet, We’ll Shoot) at Cinema Audion in Cairo.
The audience included Noor Al Sharif and his wife Pusy, Seif Abdel Rahman, and stars Latifa, Majida Al Khatib, Ahmed Bedeir, Ahmed Wafiq, Mustafa Shaaban. Also on hand were the new actor Ruby and Shahin’s assistant, Khaled Yousef.
Shahin insisted on attending the screening despite his illness, and his doctors’ warnings to avoid physical or emotional activity that could affect his heart. Shahin took no notice of the doctors’ warnings and wrote a note on the invitation cards stating, “see the film, which is about to kill me.”
A number of critics and artists hailed the film, which marked acting debut of Tunisian singer Latifa.
At the event, Shahin reiterated that the film was important particularly because it reminded him of musicals, which he is fond of.
“When Shahin offered me this role I accepted without hesitation, because it was enough for me to perform in a film that carries Shahin’s name,” Latifa told the UAE daily Al Bayan.
“This is despite the fact that I intended to postpone my acting project for several years because I am busy with singing. But with Shahin, the matter has changed, since during the shooting I found that I was working with an artist who understands everything including performance, direction, singing and composition.
“He has composed one of the film’s songs Unadi (I’m Calling) written by poet Kawthar Mustafa,” Latifa added.
Many of those present at the screening asked Latifa about her imminent engagement, but the actress simply said she would disclose the details about her future spouse at a later date - Albawaba.com
