Egyptian director Yousef Shahin and a number of Egyptian intellectuals called on all honorable people and intellectuals worldwide for supporting the armless Palestinian people who are facing extermination campaign launched by the Israeli occupation forces, according to the Egyptian press.
“We the undersigned, Egyptian intellectuals, call on the conscience of artists, writers, intellectuals and all free people throughout the world to support the armless Palestinian people who are facing a campaign of extermination and ugly massacre launched by the Israeli occupation army armed with the most sophisticated weapons,” said Shahin and the Egyptian intellectuals.
They went on saying, “we implore you honorable people to back the armless Palestinian people.”
The most prominent signatories along with Shahin included Ahdaf Sewaif, Suna’llah Ibrahim, Gamal al Ghaitani, Radwa A’shour, Mohammed al Bisati, Ibrahim Aslan, Yousef al Qaeed and the former Egyptian Minister of Culture, Tharwat Okasha and the formation artist Mohyiddin al Labbad.
The Editor in chief of the weekly magazine Akhbar al Adab Gamal al Ghaitani confirmed that a campaign has been started to gather the signatures of the rest of the Egyptian intellectuals who rushed to take action following the news reports about the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian lands, Ramallah siege and storming of the headquarters of the Palestinian president Yaser Arafat -- Albawaba.com
