Egyptian actor Yahia Al Fakhrani received an exclusive invitation to perform his popular play "Al Malek Lear" (King Lear) in Italy and France. Yahia also received an invitation to perform the play, which has become one of the most popular in theater history, in Qatar and Algeria.
According to the Egyptian based weekly, Al Nogoom, the actor expressed his utmost joy at the special invitations that prove his play is a big success, but added he would not begin any performance until he is complete with shooting the scenes for his upcoming TV drama series "Al Lail Wa Akhro" (Midnight).
It was added that officials from the Ministry of Culture in Morocca had requested Yahia to perform the play for an additional week as per audience request. The Moroccan Ministry of Culture had previously made a special request for inviting the cast and crew of the play, and that the play be Egypt's representation in the Rabat Theater Festival that took place two months ago.
Yahia had expressed his appreciation and willingness to participate in the festival hoping that conditions in the region become stable in order to move the entire cast to Morocco. It was noted that a number of performances for the play were previously cancelled due to the US-led war on Iraq. The play directed by Ahmad Abdul Halim and will costar Sawsan Badr, Ashraf Abdul Ghafour, and Riham Abdul Ghafour.
On a different note, Al Fakharani has made a decision to accept the leading role for a new TV series “Mohammad Ali Pasha” due to come out next Ramadan. In the drama series, Yahia will be playing the role of Prince Mohammad, an Ottoman general of Albanian origin, who seized power with the cooperation of the local population.
Events in the series will begin from the time the Ottoman sultan declared him the governor of Egypt in 1805.
