Millions of women breathed a sigh of relief after finding out that their Arab Idol Mohammed Assaf has broken off his engagement from Lina Qishawi this week.
The Palestinian superstar proposed to the Palestinian-Russian TV presenter in September 2015. At the time, he had asked Lina to quit her job and stay away from the limelight should she wish to marry him.
Rumors about their separation kicked off when Lina posted a new photo on Instagram showing her getting ready to present a TV show on Al Falstiniah TV. Assaf's fans knew then that something had gone wrong in his relationship, because Lina wouldn't be going against his wishes by going back to work otherwise.
Many speculate that this is the real reason behind the end of their "happily ever after." However, Assaf was vague when asked about the break up and simply said, "We tried to get to know each other better during the time of out engagement, but things didn't work out. I wish her all the best."
Assaf was attending his biopic "The Idol's" premiere in Saida, Lebanon, when he confirmed the shocking rumor.
