The 15th annual World Music Awards has been set to take place October 12, 2003 in Monaco with the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Albert. One of the main highlights of the big event is an award presented to Moroccan singer Samira Said after the success her album “Youm Wara Youm” (Day After Day).
According to the London based Elaph, the event will be aired live on 160 different satellite stations worldwide. The singer’s award is for the success her album witnessed reaching record breaking sales around Europe and the Arab world. The Moroccan singer also received another award from the BBC International Music Award. Samira has been nominated for the award after the huge success of her last album "Youm Wara Youm".
Said has spent over 40 US dollars on 6 dresses from one of the Italian fashion houses to wear in her new music video. The singer had gone to Italy specifically to buy the dresses which she feels will add to the quality of her new video for the song “Kabiltak Leah” (I Met Your Why) scheduled to be aired on local and satellite TV channels at the time of the release for her upcoming album in the very near future.
Samira stressed that she is keeping the details of her new clip a complete secret, but is positive that once it is out it will fascinate viewers in ways they never thought possible. She added that she feels the video is the best she has filmed so far throughout her singing career and is hopeful of its success.
The singer added that the 6 dresses were specially designed for her to wear in the music video and that she does not feel she went overboard with their cost. She added that she is always willing to do what it takes to better the quality of her videos and music regardless of the cost.
Samira held a spectacular performance on June 29, 2003 that captivated the Arab population in Amsterdam. The evening was a sure success with a very large number of people attending the concert. She sang a huge collection of her new and old songs and was in surprise when the audience sang along with her showing how popular she has become worldwide. Albawaba.com
