Algerian singer Wardah is one of few contemporary artists to rejuvenate her image by issuing new albums all the time. This is an attempt to modernize Arabic singing, regardless of whether or not the younger generation and critics in the Arab World are appreciative, according to the Kuwaiti Al Rai Al Am daily.
Wardah's new album includes 10 songs, with Law Mihtagli (If You Need Me) and Ana Liyya Min Ghirak (I Have No One Else Except You) taking the lead. This follows a tradition among singers, who used to choose the titles of two songs, not one, as the name for their albums.
From her experience with the composer Salah Al Sharnoubi, who shone three years ago with the song Batwannes Beek, Wardah has led a real revolution which has made her records best sellers among singers old and new.
With her latest songs, Law Mihtagli and Yah A’ddonia, composed by Walid Saad, the top Arab singer has given a golden opportunity to the young composer.
Wardah’s courage stands out in the four songs composed by Khaled Al Bakri and Algerian artist Radwan Bou Haired. She has dedicated the two songs Yalbiladi and Yalhabayeb, sung in the local Algerian accent, to her homeland – Albawaba.com
