Egyptian actress Wafa Amer announced that she has increased her wage from 7 thousand to 10 thousand Egyptian pounds per episode for any new television drama produced by the ‘Egyptian Media Production City.’

Wafa stressed that she will not accept any new role, unless she is paid the new wage she has set.

The actress made her decision after the success of her last television drama, “Milh Al Ard” (Earth Salt) alongside Egyptian actor Mohammad Subhi, screened last year during the holy month of Ramadan.

Wafa has started a singing career, and will be performing seven different songs in her upcoming television drama series “Imam Mohammad Abdo”.

In the drama Wafa plays the role of Nowara, a singer at a local nightclub who gains notoriety in the music industry and amongst political circles.

The drama, set in the mid nineteenth century, is written by Ayed Al Ribat and directed by Shukri Abu Ameereh.

Wafa confirmed that she has no intention to resign from the acting world, despite circulating rumors, clarifying that she refuses to act in intimate scenes that include kissing.

Wafa was shocked a few weeks ago when she was offered roles in five different films, all of which include scenes containing nudity and sexual content.
