A big fight erupted between prominent Egyptian actresses Sofia Al Omari and Abla Kamel after the two made a scene of exchanging curses. The incident took place on the set of the new TV drama “Aafareet Al-Sayyalah” that is currently being filmed, and is part of the script.
Sofia performs the role of an aristocratic lady and Abla is a commoner and the scene took place in a low class area where Sofia comes to Abla to make friends with her because her nephew inherits a great deal of money and Sofia hopes to have a share of it.
The new TV drama is written by Osama Anwar Okasha and costarring Nashwa Mustafa and Osama Abbas and directed by Ismael Abdul Hafiz. Sofia had returned to the screen, after a two-year absence, to star in the drama “Abiad x Abiad” (White x White). Her last appearance on TV was in the drama “Opera Aida” with the Egyptian actor Yahia Al Fakharani.
For the tenth time in a row, the United Nations (UN) has reassigned prominent Sofia as UN Goodwill Ambassador for Egypt and the Arab region. Sofia, who is going to meet the secretary general of the UN Kofi Anan, expressed her deepest feelings of happiness and appreciation to the UN for their ongoing trust in her.
Sofia will be meeting Anan next October to discuss a joint plan to enhance housing projects in a big conference under the patronage of the UN, the conference will include all Goodwill Ambassadors around the world.
Sofia has been UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador for Egypt, she has traveled throughout the Middle East promoting women’s right to reproductive health care, education and empowerment. In June 1999, she attended the UN General Assembly Special Session reviewing the five years since the Cairo conference on population and development. During the conference, Omari delivered a speech about Israeli violations of Palestinian women’s rights. – Albawaba.com
