Three years after putting the corner stone of Um Kulthoum’s museum, it is to be opened Friday on the occasion of the late diva’s birthday, according to the local press.
The museum will display art and personal effects of the beloved Arab singer. It will display audio and visual recordings of all the singer's concerts, costumes in which she had performed, personal documents, photos with world figures, books, articles, and news items in addition to jewelry, and other personal effects most of which had been collected by fans to be shared with the world in the museum.
The minister of culture Farouq Hosni told Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA) that the museum is one of many to be constructed in memory of Egyptian artists and literary figures.
Whereas the late singer was and still is considered the Arab's queen singer, close friends and relations of Um Kulthoum say she actually had a bad case of stage fright and anxiety prior to any of her performances.
On a technical note, recent computer tests proved Um Kulthoum is one of only two in the world who sang with only a 0.001 fraction of drone in their performance. The other performer is a male singer – Albawaba.com
