Egyptian director Ahmed Saqer has nominated the actor Ibrahim Yusri to star in the series Hadith Al Sabah Wal Masaa (Morning and Evening Speech), replacing Kamal Abu Rayyah.

Abu Rayyah was rejected by the TV production department head, Medhat Zaki, according to the London-based daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.

Zaki has also booted Abu Rayyah from another performance to be aired next Ramadan, saying it could have a negative impact on the latter’s role as Qasem Amin in the series, which has the same title and is directed by Ena’m Mohammed Ali.

Yusri will begin this week the shooting of his first scenes, along with Laila Ulwi, who has spent one month in Europe purchasing the clothes and accessories needed for her role.

The director told the daily that Ulwi would surprise the audience by returning to the small screen, where she has not been seen since performing in the series Al Tawam (Twins) along with Majdi Ameerah.

Costarring in the series are Abla Kamel, Sawsan Bader, Khaled Al Nabawi, Sami Al Adel, Dalal Abdel Aziz, Mahmoud Al Jundi, Ahmed Maher and Bassam Rajab.

The series, scripted by Mohsen Zayed based on Najeeb Mahfouze’s novel, addresses a historical era that witnessed many political and social events, starting at the beginning of the last century and running until the Egyptian revolution in 1952 - Albawaba.com
