The Egyptian controversial director Enas al Deghaidi will head for Tunisia Friday to participate in the International Cultural Qairawan Festival which will kick off on April 20 for one week, according to the daily al Ahram.
The festival will honor the Egyptian director and screen her film Kalam al Lail (Night Speech).
However, the festival management asked for screening the film Muthakkarat Murahiqah (Adolescent Memoirs), the latest film by Deghadi but participation in the formal contest was not possible in Cartage International Film Festival. The festival committee nominated the film to be screened at Montreal Film Festival in Canada next August.
The Tunisian young actress Hind Sabri plays the starring role in the film Muthakkarat Murahiqah which participated in the Cairo International Film Festival and won the best Arabic film award. However, the film has aroused a great deal of controversy among critics and audience in Egypt. Some considers the work “a daring film that discusses the suffering of girls and Eastern societies,” while the majority believe that it “harms the Egyptian woman in general and at the same time insults the director, who is accused by many as becoming a specialist in making sex and delinquency films popular.” -- Albawaba.com
