Tunisian singer Latifa took advantage of her visit to Lebanon by recording her latest song "Mudardara" (Restless) under the direction of Salim Turk, which marks the first cooperation between the two. The song has a Tunisian national theme, tackling the hard times the Arab world is currently experiencing.
According to the London based Elaph, Latifa also sings about the hard times ahead that are expected to cloud over the region and Arabs everywhere. The name of the song is a Tunisian word for restlessness, worry, unstable, and fear, which according to Latifa is the exact situation of people living in the region.
Latifa was due to release her upcoming album "Halit Harb" (In Times of War), but the current conditions forced her to postpone for an undecided time. Therefore, the singer was satisfied with the release of "Mudardara", which was filmed in a unique manner.
The singer had chosen Turk to direct her music video due to the fact that she was extremely impressed with his style, especially after his latest accomplishment in Lebanese singer Elaine Khalaf's latest music video.
Latifa had previously announced that after a desire that lasted over three years, she will be singing a song written by renowned poet Prince Badr Bin Abdul Muhsin. The delay of her latest album was mainly based on the fact that she was waiting for an acceptance from the Prince.
Latifa had met with the Prince several times at different events in Lebanon and Paris, in which she expressed her admiration to his works and how she would be honored to sing one of his poems. Soon after, the Prince wrote a poem for Latifa, which she accepted wholeheartedly.
Composer Mohammad Shafiq, who is also the middle man between Latifa and Muhsin, composed the lyrics of the poem adding that the singer holds an outstanding talent for singing. The song is now ready for release after it was composed and recorded in Cairo by Latifa.
Latifa’s collection for her new album will include two songs composed a number of prominent composers. The singer has expressed that she feels it’s a great honor to work with Rahbani as it adds tremendously to her career.
The album, produced by “Alam Al Fan”(World of Art), will includes variety of songs and many surprises, with a Khaliji song written by Prince Badr Bin Abdul Muhsin. The song, entitled "La Ana Ansa" (I Won't Forget), will mark Latifa's debut with a Khaliji song. The song's composer, Mohammed Shafiq said that "the work came upon Latifa's wish to have a joint project with Prince Badr, and for his part the Prince welcomed the idea and worked on 'La Ana Ansa' poem." –Albawaba.com
