The Arab satellite and ground channels have refused to purchase between 30 to 35 percent of the Egyptian produced series “because the themes of these productions conflict with the traditions and social norms” in Arab countries. The series “Awan Al Ward” which was screened in Ramadan blew a big storm and was rejected by more than 10 satellite channels. Seventy percent of these programs have been sold including only 11 series produced by Sawt al-Qahera “Voice of Cairo” and six produced by the Egyptian TV and Radio Production Department.
But according to a report by the Department last January, these series had been rejected because the same stars took part in most of them and due to the recent rise in their prices which amounted to more than 25 percent – Albawaba.com
