Ladies; we’re sorry to break it to you but Tamer Hosny is no longer a single man. In an unexpected move by the Egyptian singer, Hosny posted a video on his official Facebook page announcing he has married Moroccan singer Basma Boussel.
In the post he said: “Hi everyone - congratulate me, I have finally married! I have made an official commitment in front of Allah with my marriage to Basma Bousel.”
Boussel, a former Star Academy contestant, is 14 years his junior. She is 21 while he is 35 years old.
Needless to say, Hosny has received mixed reactions from fans on his social media sites. While many have posted messages of congratulations, others have expressed their suspicions of the partnership, with one posting: “I don’t care if he marries or not, but hang on a second - isn’t this the same Tamer that said that when he married, he wanted to marry someone who was Egyptian, veiled [wears the Islamic headdress], and wasn’t from the entertainment world? Where has all of this gone?”
Others simply seem to not approve of his choice of bride.
“Here’s the deal, I liked Basma a lot when she was on Star Academy, but then she got out and did so many plastic surgeries she just made it seem like she was seeking attention,” said one post. “Don’t like her much anymore; I think she’s a gold digger.”
One fan even went on to suggest they might be trying to cover a scandal, saying: “This marriage is not going to last; it is rumoured they have tied the knot because she is pregnant. After all, they have been spending a lot of time in the US together...”
In Boussel’s official biography, she lists her singing idols as Naima Samih, Asala Nasri and Hosny, which adds further fuel to the fire that the marriage is heading for disaster.
