The General Cinema Organization has recently started working on a feature film entitled Ahadith al Hajar (The Speeches of The Stone) directed by Raymond Boutrous.

The film cast light on the stone sculptures displayed in all Syrian museums and those which can be found at a number of archaeological sites.

Director Boutrous told the daily Syria Times that the film is not a documentary, but it is personal meditations regarding the history of civilizations through the art of sculpture which has been existed for six thousand years.

He added that a lot of information can be deduced throughout this refine art, especially people’s life, daily activities, traditions and the political system that was prevalent in different periods. The film is being shot in different Syrian governorates.

Earlier, Boutrous directed a documentary about the Syrian art in the 20th century in which he reviewed the development of Syrian plastic art since the beginning of the 20th century with reference to the pioneers of Syrian art – Albawaba.com
