The General Corporation of the Syrian Radio and TV has recently put forward the plan for producing a number of new TV series, to maintain the boom currently witnessed by the Syrian TV drama, according to the daily Syria Times.
The series are Qabl al Ghroub (Before Sunset) scripted by Sami Yousef and directed by Fahd Miri, the director of Quloub Dafia (Warm Hearts), al Buyout Asrar (The Houses are Secrets) scripted by Rania Bitar and directed by Alaa Eddin Kokash, which will be shot in the Syrian city of Aleppo, Cheating by Coincidence directed by Thaer Musa and Thel wa Masrah (Shadow and Theater) directed by Syrian actor Talhat Hamdi.
Director Hani al Rumani has also concluded work in a series entitled Hammam al Qishani (al Qishani Public Bathhouse) which records modern Syrian history, especially the period of the 1950s and the 1960s which witnessed many political and social changes in the country. The series concentrate on the reaction of people towards these changes and the formation of the political parties in the country and their role in socio-political life in the country.
Other series include al Lawha al Sawdaa (The Black Panel), al Bahth An al Mustahil (Searching for the Impossible) and Wuroud Fi Miyah Maliha (Flowers in a Salty Water).
Abyad wa Aswad (Black and White) is a new TV series directed by Abed Fahd. It deals with the story of five people working in a detergent company and the ironies that took place there. Throughout these five employees, the director sheds light on the situation of the state administrations and ministries.
Another theme tackled in the story is that of a young emigrant who settled in Canada and achieved great success there, but he asked his friends to bury him in his homeland after his death in reference to the strong adherence of expatriates to their motherland.
The director told the daily that the series belongs to the comedy of character. It casts light on the problems of poor people and their way in confronting the problems of life.
In reply to a question about Adad theatrical gathering, Abed said that the experience succeeded at the beginning, but failed later because of financial reasons. Abed has been an active participant in Mirrors and stories with Yasser al Azmeh showing his prodigious comic talents – Albawaba.com
