Syria will take part in the theatrical festival of Algeria due to be held in the Algerian governorate of Sidi Bin Abbas later this month.
Syria’s participation will be through two plays the first is al Dik (The Cock) directed by Talal Nasser Eddin and costarring Zinati Qudsiyya, and the second is Noor al Oyoun (The Light of Eyes) directed by Ajaj Salim and costarring Nidal Sijeri, Fadi Sbeih and others. The play will be performed at the theatre of the General Federation of Trade Unions in Damascus before travelling to Algeria.
Preparations are under way for holding the fifth session of Hama Theatrical Festival, which is held in parallel with the Spring Festival held in the city, according to the daily Syria Times.
The head of Hama theatrical branch actress Kamilia Boutros told the daily that the activities of the festival would be expanded this year. A number of Jordanian plays will be performed during the festival.
Meanwhile, the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus is currently hosting a theatrical performance titled Shama out. The play is a melodrama by writer Adnan Kanafani that deals with the importance of reviving the Palestinian memory and the continuity of generations since the creation of the Zionist entity in the heart of the Arab homeland. The play also sheds light on the importance of the Palestinian Intifada as representing the hope of the Palestinian people in restoring their occupied territories – Albawaba.com
