The fifth Swairah festival “Kanawah and World Music” kicked off Thursday in Casablanca where the Kanawh music songs presented by the participating troupes were blended, according to the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
The festival will take four days and nights to be wrapped up. The opening official ceremony included a concert performed by the troupe of Hamid al Qasri along with the duo renowned Amado from Mali amd skilled French pianist Jane Phillip Rikil in addition to the Bangali Bolous troupe.
The festival program includes music features performed by a group of Moroccan artists in addition to foreign troupes participation such as Algerian Kanawah Wild Sidi Bilal, the African Troupe, Algeria-Morocco led by the Algerian artist Karim Ziyad and the renowned artist Amo Sanghari from Mali, duo Amado and Merriam in addition to the singer Dimi Mint Apa from Mauritania and the French group Haddock Trio.
The festival lovers will also enjoy the rhythmic music playing by the Argentinean artist Mino Grey and drummer al Mukhtar samba. This is in addition to the French flute player Louis Pirtiniac, French pianist John Phillip Rikil, French Saxophone player Julian Lauro, American drummer Gami Haddad, rhythmic music player Yaya Watara from Burkina Faso, the flute player Solo Razaf from Malagasy, the American flute player Linly Mart and the Bosnian pianist Eujan Zolvikarbazik -- Albawaba.com
