Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim filed a lawsuit against her husband at a civil court in Beirut-Lebanon for battering and assaulting her. Suzan presented Judge Danny Sharaibeh with doctors' reports of her bruises that resulted from her husband's beatings.
According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, Suzan's husband denied all allegations made against him by his wife saying he never laid a hand on her or mistreated her in any way. He also insisted that the doctors' reports presented by his wife were not true because the birth date on the reports did not match Suzan's therefore assuring it belonged to another woman.
Problems have taken over the couple's lives for the past four years. The marital situation led Suzan to leave Lebanon and find residence in Paris. Lawyers have been trying to convince Suzan to agree to the conditions set forth by her husband in order to get the divorce, but she has been refusing ever since her separation.
After three long years of living abroad and away from Lebanon, Suzan received word that her husband agreed to divorce her but under a number of conditions mostly which concern money, and added that she may return to Lebanon to finalize the divorce.
Upon her arrival, Suzan was shocked that her husband changed his mind and filed a complaint against her at an Islamic court accusing her of leaving her home and demanded she return. He also filed a second complaint to a civil court blaming her family for playing with her mind and convincing her to leave him making up lies about him.
The singer at this point went to an Islamic scholar and explained to him her marital situation in which he told her that according to the Islamic religion she is a divorced woman especially since the couple have been separated and no bond has occurred between them.. Her husband refused to accept the scholars ruling and said he would not grant her the divorce unless a court decides on it.
Suzan now considers herself divorced but her husband refuses to hear of it saying she has not won the battle yet. –Albawaba.com
