The Lawyer of Abed Al Satar Tamim who is the father of the late young Lebanese artist Susan Tamim filed a lawsuit in Egyptian courts against the new television drama series “Layali” which was aired on satellite channels this past Ramadan season. Mr. Tamim accuses the drama series of having the same story line as his late daughter’s case and a ruling will take place in the days to come.
The scenario of the series “Layali” has a great similarity to the court case of the late Lebanese artist and how she was killed. The famous Egyptian businessman Mr. Hisham Talat Mustafa who is a member of the Egyptian parliament is accused of paying a retired police officer to kill the late Lebanese artist. The court has ruled death by hanging against the famous Egyptian businessman.
On the other hand, the series which stars young Egyptian actress Zainah has caused a great roar in the media because of the similarities. The conflicts that are raised about the series are that the characters in the drama series are very similar to real life characters especially the personality of “Hisham Mustafa” which was played by Egyptian actor Izat Abu Oof.
The character’s name that Abu Oof played was called “Husam Murtada” and he also like Hisham Mustafa worked in the construction and real estate business. The writer of the scenario Ayman Salameh denied that the series was based on the true story of the late Lebanese artist Susan Tamim. He adds that the only reason that the viewers might make a connection between the two is that both talk about money and power and how it is connected to show business.
He also said that the same storyline was played out in numerous drama works.
Salameh also stated that if there were any similarities the media drama censors won’t give permission for the making of the drama series because there is still a murder case in courts. As for the lawyer of Mr. Tamim he said that since watching the first episode of the drama series “Layali” they saw the similarities and they went ahead with filing a lawsuit against the makers of the drama series. He also added that in every episode there were more and more similarities.
The series is about an artist named “Layali” and how she became an artist and got married to a Lebanese businessman and then meeting the Egyptian businessman “Husam Murtada”. Layali then faces many death threats after she starts meeting politicians and powerful men in the Egyptian community.
Layali then asks for the protection of the Egyptian businessman “Husam Murtada” and the relationship between them develops until she ends up being killed by unknown people. The end of the series is kept open and the real killer is unknown till the end.
