Egyptian actor Summaya Al Khashab has set aside two hundred thousand Egyptian pounds to film a new music video to be directed by Egyptian producer Nasr Mahrous.

According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, Summaya postponed the release of her album until she completed filming the scenes of her recent television drama “Raya and Iskeena,” aired during the holy month of Ramadan.

Summaya refused lucrative offers by production companies to buy exclusive rights to her music, one reaching as high as one million Egyptian pounds for a period of one year.

The actor has recorded all of the songs for her new album and will release it in the near future. After the release, the actress will begin work on a new film together with prominent Egyptian actor Nour El Sharif.

Summaya announced that her role of Iskeena in “Raya and Iskeena” was one of the most important of her career. The series tells the tale of two of the most dangerous and ruthless female murderers of the first half of the twentieth century.

Summaya noted the numerous rumors that were circulated while filming, regarding so-called disputes that had erupted between her and the director.

Summaya explained that the director wanted her to gain some weight for her role, and she refused. She flatly denied the rumor that she had demanded a higher wage and to appear in additional scenes in the drama.

Summaya stressed that she was very satisfied with the wage she was given and felt that the scenes she took part in were enough to make her an important aspect of the drama.

The actress stated that she was not dissuaded by the fact that several other actors had refused the role before her, affirming that her only concern was to be able to portray her character to the best of her ability.
