Samir Al Jamal has asked the head of the Egyptian TV and Radio Union to help demolish obstacles in the path of the first Egyptian-Syrian television series, Maa Wa Demaa (Water and Blood), according to ArabStars.Net.
In a memo of complaint, Jalal said that the Voice of Cairo, which is participating in the production of the said series, was insisting that the director be an Egyptian with a reputation in television.
But Jalal wants the series to be directed by Syrian Mohammed Ferdous Al Attassy, who has worked and followed the idea of the joint project since it started to flower.
A group of famous Syrian and Egyptian stars will headline the series, including Mamdouh Abdel Aleem and Athar Al Hakeem from Egypt and Norman Asaad and Jamal Sleiman from Syria.
Maa Wa Demaa depicts the romance of a couple, a girl from Egypt and a man from Syria, who fall in love during the period of the two countries’ union in the early 1960s. The series will also present for the first time on screen the late Syrian poet Nezar Qabani. Which actor will play the role of Qabani has still not been decided.
The shooting of the new series is expected to start once the issue of the director is settled and once Abdel Aleem finishes his work in Al Koomy – Albawaba.com
