Egyptian singer Shireen Wajdi has denied circulating rumors that she had publicly insulted Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram. Shireen stressed during a press conference in Tunisia that she could not believe that she was accused of degrading Nancy in a magazine saying that she does not think she is the number one singer in the Arab world.

According to the London based Elaph, Shireen revealed that her remarks were switched around to create such chaos but what she had said in reality was that she feels the true singers of the Arab world are the older generation, but that the new generation is adding so much to the music industry. Shireen had made a personal phone call to Nancy to explain to her the misunderstanding that occurred and to ensure that no hard feelings exist.

Wajdi has denied her involvement in a film about the life of prominent Algerian singer Warda. Shireen stressed that at the time being she does not think of entering the acting world, wanting to focus her efforts solely on her singing career.

It was rumored that producer Ehab Tal’at, Shireen’s husband, had come to an agreement with Warda to produce a new film about her life and have his wife play the leading role. Shireen stressed that no such negotiations occurred between her husband and Warda and the news is merely a lie. –Albawaba.com
