Audiences of the satellite channel MBC were surprised when the new show “Al Araab” was replaced with regular programming. The coming episode, already recorded, was supposed to feature Egyptian singer Shireen Abed Al Wahab and Kuwaiti Nawal.
According to the London daily Elaph, MBC spokesperson Nadine Tarbyeh said, “The show had to be replaced by a religious show since it was ‘Al-Hajj’ season (the time Muslims make the holy pilgrimage to Mecca).” Nadine said the show was recorded since both music artists were in Beirut, and will be aired after ‘Al –Hajj’ and the ‘Eid Al-Adha’ (Muslim holiday that comes at the end of ‘Al-Hajj’) season.
Rumors claim that the episode was not aired because Shireen was late for the recording of the show due to a shopping spree. According to an inside a source in the studio, Nishan the show host was very upset since Shireen’s delay was unjustified.
Shireen has been late for the recording of other shows. Over a year ago Shireen was three hours late for the recording of the show “Feha Eh” (So What!) with the host Wafa’ Al Kilani, because she overslept.
