Egyptian folk singer Shabaan Abdul Rahim held a concert on the Amphitheatre downtown Amman Jordan, and as always the theatre was full of people who see him as the singer of the people because of his way the words that he chooses, which are in most cases are taken from everyday life events.
Shabaan recently prepared a new song, which is a special dedication to Egypt's President, Husni Mubarak, under the title of "Binhibak Ya Raees" (We Love You President). Shabaan revealed that he did the song for the president as a way of celebrating his return to good health after undergoing a critical health condition and receiving treatment abroad.
Despite being a former ironer, Shabaan thinks he can sing his point of view about politicians and discuss in his songs the entire political situation the region and the world are going through. Shabaan adds that he fears Israeli revenge because of his songs but yet he says that he is willing to hand himself in to the Israelis if they give Jerusalem back to Arabs, then he will find a way to flee.
Shabaan accused Israeli PM Ariel Sharon of being behind the September 11 bombings in New York and he proves that in his song “Ya Aam Aarabi”.
About his future songs, Shabaan revealed that he will sing a song for American President George Bush when he looses the elections for the Presidency of the US.
His latest work was a duet with Miami band form Kuwait and his next one will be with Sally in a song entitled “Min Zaman”.
Sabaan thinks that the success of a movie is measured by the sale of tickets, adding that his three experiences in acting were successful because fans liked him in all his different roles. Shabaan is currently preparing for his first experience as a comedian on the big screen through the movie “Sousa in Garden City”. Shabaan is costarring with prominent Egyptian comedian Sameer Ghanem, and will be performing the role of a real estate broker whose curiosity causes him many embarrassing yet funny situations.
Shabaan has previously participated with Ghanem in his comedy play “Do Re Mi Fasolya”. The singer is very skeptical about undergoing a cinematic experience not wanting to face disappointment, especially since the previous film witnessed such failure and made no profit. Shabaan’s only successful acting experience was through the film “Muatin, Mukhbir, wa Harami” (A Citizen, an Investigator, and a Thief), which witnessed large profits. – Albawaba.com
