The local Egyptian artist Sha’ban Abed Al Rahim, known as Sha’bola, denied rumors that he promoted a short film on the internet featuring the artist Saed Al Soghayer and a belly dancer named Waed engaged in sexual activity.
Al Soghayer was arrested and sentenced to one year in prison. Waed was acquitted of all charges.
There have been ongoing disputes between Sha’bola and Al Soghayer. Sha’bola previously accused Al Soghayer of stealing his fame, and both artists have exchanged petty insults.
