The Syrian actor Salloum Haddad is currently gearing up along with the Syrian director Haitham Haqqi for his forthcoming drama about the life history of the renowned poet Abu al Tayyeb al Mutanabbi.

“I was supposed to star this year in a big drama series about the Arab renowned poet al Mutababbi but as everybody knows the immense preparations and production arrangements for this series have prevented me from wrapping it up as scheduled. I hope the audience will see a top notch drama on the life history of this poet and his relations with the society and the circumstances that led him to excellence and creativity,” Haddad told the UAE daily al Bayan.

Responding to a question on his series al Zir Salem the cast of which have recently been honored at the eighth Syrian Artists Day, Haddad said, “despite all different views and criticisms against the series, it arouses dialogue and discussion at various levels. This is particularly in view of the fact that the writer Mamdouh Odwan managed to raise an Important point in the series al Zir Salem by glorifying the character and describing him as superstitious legend. In my opinion this has aroused the biggest controversy and criticism so far—Albawaba.com
