Egyptian director Atef Salem has finalized shooting for his latest film Faris Dahr El Kheil (The Knight of the Horse), which took him 2 years to complete; a factor that has now placed in the record breaking books of Egypt.

This record breaking movie revolves around the time of British colonialism.

According to ‘Al Mas’a newspaper, Salem was forced to discontinue the movie’s shooting for a long time because of a sudden but nearly fatal illness.

The director was forced to stay at the Intensive Care unit in an Alexandria hospital and was prohibited from any movement for months on end.

Although the film’s production company had seriously thought of replacing Salem as director; it did not in fear of negatively affecting the director’s self esteem.

However, Salem’s health prevailed and he was able to go back to his cameras; but not without difficulty.

The director is still stuck to a wheelchair.

The actors involved in the project include Layla Fawzi, Mona Zaki, Jamal Abdul Naser and Fadia Abdul Ghani. – Albawaba.com.
