Tunisian singer Saber Riba’e waged a war against all flagrant video clips, describing the phenomenon as too much nudity on Arab satellite channels. The singer noted that airing these kinds of shameful video clips is disgraceful and a cheap imitation for western culture.
According to the London based daily, Al Hayat, Saber said, “this is considered as promotion for pornography which is against our values and culture. I demand all Arab media to do something to prevent such video clips.” The singer stressed that using such cheap measures to attract viewers and gain popularity is disgraceful to all Arabs. Saber also advised all Arab female celebrities to be more cautious when choosing their future husbands to avoid the same destiny of late Tunisian singer Thikra.
Recently, Saber denied circulating rumors that he has a child from the late Tunisian singer Thikra stressing that the news really shocked him. Saber added that this rumor is more harmful and hurtful the late singer’s family, and is a sign of disrespecting her.
Saber stressed that his relation with Thikra was based on pure friendship and nothing more. Adding that there had never existed any form of a love relationship between them for such rumors to occur.
Saber criticized such demeaning rumors by tabloids saying that they are willing to write anything such to make money. Saber made his comments during his attendance at the Jordanian Song Festival. During the festival, he advised young Jordanian singers to start looking for a way to convince the public of their talents, warning them from producing low class songs or bold video clips to attract viewers. He asserted that one should study music and acquire it as knowledge in order to be successful.
Regarding his singing career, he said that he started with different kinds of singing to attract the Arab public, and then concentrated on Tunisian folkloric songs. He considers his second launch in the world to be from Beirut, where he had witnessed a lot of support. –Albawaba.com
