Syrian singer Ruwaida Attieh is preparing for her tour around Canada and the United States, marking her first outside the Arab world. The nearly month long tour is scheduled to be launched in mid-November.
According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, upon her return the singer will head to Tunisia, where she is scheduled to hold New Years Eve performances.
Ruwaida has just completed shooting her latest music video for the song “Alia Al Jani,” under the direction of Adel Sarhan, who won the Oscar for best director for 2005 at the Sixth Annual Music Video Festival in Cairo.
Ruwaida released her second album “Khisamak Mur” (Ignoring you is sour) under the production of Al Shams Music company.
Ruwaida revealed that the new album features a variety of songs sung in the Egyptian, Lebanese, Syrian and Gulf dialects. She worked with a number of prominent composers, including Salah Al Sharnoubi, on the album. She described working with him as “ a dream come true.”
