The music company Rotana is preparing for the release of a new collection of albums in the upcoming few days, regardless of the war that has hit the region. Salim Al Hindi, general manager of the company, revealed that an album for Rida Abdullah has been released and a large number of others are on the way. Salim added that among the new releases to be out early next month are Abdullah Bil Khair, Ibrahim Al Tamimi, and Nizar Abdullah.
According to London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, the Saudi recording company Gulf Art, recently announced that it will postpone the release of a number of albums some of which are for Hassan Abdullah, Wa'id, and Rashid Al Majid.
A number of Arab singers have requested production companies to postpone their albums, saying that the current situation of war is very inappropriate for any work to be released. Singers like Saudi Mohammad Abdo, Ali Abdul Karim, Abdul Majeed Abdulah, and Abadi Jawhar have stressed that they refuse to release any work at the moment feeling it's very insensitive with regards to the suffering and killings occurring in the region. They added that all work related to the music industry should be halted at the moment until the situation in Iraq is resolved. -Albawaba.com
