A few weeks ago the Arab world remembered the 28th anniversary of one of its most famous comedian actors, Ismael Yaseen.

Yaseen, who has the ability to make people laugh, hid his childhood sufferings behind the camera. He lost his mother when he was six years old, and left to live with his grandmother after the ill treatment he received from his father.

As soon as he was old enough to travel, he left for Cairo. At first, Yassen wanted to be a singer as famous as Mohammed Abdel Wahaab, but was not accepted by Cairo society. Later on, however, he found himself in the film business with a talent for comedy acting.

He died in 1972 with a broken heart. Despite the fact that he made 480 movies, at the end of his life, he was penniless.

Today, Yaseen remains the No.1 comic artist and is affectionately known as the biggest mouth in Arab cinema – Albawaba.com
