Lebanese superstar Ragheb Alama narrowly avoided being caught up in the bombing that shook Beirut's busy streets on Friday.

The singer had been in Al Ashrafiyeh in eastern Beirut just minutes before the blast that left - amongst others - top Lebanese security official General Wissam al Hassan, for dead.

Ragheb reportedly took to Twitter to tell fans about his brush with death: "God protected me, he is kind to me. I was on my way to the recording studio which is located on the same street where the bomb was planted. A few moments separated me from the animalistic terrorist bomb, which targeted innocent people…God protect Lebanon."
