Al Aqsa Intifada and the Palestinians’ resistance of the Israeli occupation have constituted an important source of inspiration for the Syrian filmmakers and TV directors.
Many features and TV series were produced during the past two years depicting the Palestinian Intifada and the brave steadfastness of the Palestinian people in confrontation of the Israeli oppression, according to the daily Syria Times.
Haql al Mawt (The Field of Death) is a TV film recently produced by Syrian TV and directed by Naji To’meh. The film deals with the Arab- Israeli conflict and the relentless struggle of legitimate owners of the land against Israeli occupation. Throughout the life of a Palestinian family, the film shows the determination of the Palestinian people to defend their lands at any cost.
Al Burom wa al Taghiya (The Bud and the Despot) is the title of a cartoon film that portrays the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in confrontation of Sharon’s massacres. The buds represent the Palestinian children who are oppressed by the despot Sharon and his crimes. But at the end the bud blossoms despite Sharon’s crimes.
The film recently won the first prize of Tehran Festival for TV Production.
The film was directed by Firas Dihni who has directed another film titled Save Childhood. The film shows that children are the main victims of Israeli terrorism.
Radm al Asatir (Refuting Myths) is the title of a new TV series that unveils another kind of Zionist terrorism, namely the Israeli attempt to distort established historical facts through forging archaeological finds and alleging that they testify to the Jewish existence in the region.
Scenarist Abdel Rhaman al Dahhak told the daily that the title of the film was inspired by a line from a poem by Mahmoud Darwish.
He added that the series is considered the first political one that deals with the Israeli attempts to forge the excavations conducted in Tel Mardikh during the period between 1982 and 1984. The series also deals with the Israeli invasion of South Lebanon and the reaction of people towards it. The series was directed by Haitham Haqqi – Albawaba.com
