British Vanessa Redgrave, the Oscar-winning actress and the political activist, condemned during a press conference following her honoring at the Cairo International Film Festival, Sunday, the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
The Egyptian daily, Al Gomhuriya reported on Tuesday that the star called for all Arab producers to intensify their work on movies and documentaries serving the Palestinian cause. "I'm feeling the pain of the Palestinian people and their daily sufferings. I strongly believe that the Israelis won't be able to face the great faith these people carry inside," said Redgrave.
Awarded the festival's Golden Lotus Flower, the star expressed her happiness for the honoring and apologized for not being able to attend the concluding ceremony for her engagement in a theatrical performance in London. "I always dreamt of visiting Egypt and seeing the Nile, and for my pleasure my dream came true. I spent one my beautiful days in Egypt and I hope I would be able to visit this nice country again," Redgrave concluded.
The 26th Cairo International Film Festival president, Mr. Sherief Al Soubashy said that Redgrave's honoring had come in recognition to the star's dedication to the acting world, since 1957.
Born January 30, 1937, Redgrave studied drama at London's Central School of Music and Dance. She made her theatrical debut in 1957 and her film debut "Behind the Mask", the following year. In the 60's, the star gave life to Shakespeare's works with some of her country's finest performers and met her future husband, director Tony Richardson. – Albawaba.com
