Well renowned Egyptian author, Osama Anwar Okasha refused to acknowledge Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram amongst the list of names chosen by Newsweek as the most influential figures of the Arab world.
Okasha claims there must be a more accurate method of determining people’s influential based on their achievements and talent. Choosing someone like Nancy as a top influential figure is an insult to all Arabs, he added. Okasha declined his invitation to the ceremony held by Newsweek, stressing that he does not want to be considered on the same level as Nancy.
Nancy has begun recording the songs for her upcoming album, featuring twelve songs in the Egyptian, Lebanese, and Gulf dialects. Her album is scheduled for release at the beginning of this summer.
The singer is scheduled to hold two concerts in Tunisia in June, and will also film a new commercial for Coca Cola Soft Drink, Nancy’s second for the company.
Nancy is currently on tour in the US and Canada, alongside prominent Iraqi singer Kathem El Saher. The tour was launched on May 13 in Miami, Florida and will end on July 11 in Boston, Massachusetts. Nancy will hold eight concerts, and Kathem will perform six.
