Director Sharif Abdul Latif, head of the National Theater, has succeeded in convincing Egyptian actor Nour El Sharif to take part in his upcoming play “Al Ameerah wal Sa’louk” (The Princess and her servant).
In addition to playing the leading role, Nour will assist Sharif with the direction of the new play.
According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, Nour revealed that the script for “Al Ameera wal Sa’louk” had really captured his interest.
“It is a love story taken from the fairytale a Thousand and One Nights,” Nour explained.
The play was written by Al Fareed Al Faraj nearly two years ago.
Regarding his new film, Nour has changed the title from “Ayam Al Khadima” (Days of the Maid) to “Ahlamna” (Our Dreams), so as not to be confused with Egyptian actress Nadia Al Jundi’s well known film “Al Khadima” (The Maid), released back in the eighties.
Nour is directing three films consecutively for the ‘Arab Radio and Television’ network (ART), and marks his first experience directing a full length feature film.
His three films are “Al Hara Al Wasi’a” (The Wide Neighborhood), “Ya Katel Ya Maktool” (Kill or be Killed), and “Our Dreams,” written by Yusri Izz El Din and directed by Yasser Mufadil.
Nour signed an agreement with ART to produce and direct a number of films to be aired on its different channels. The films will be made for television only and will explore different social issues that cater to its viewers.
