In her latest artwork Kalemat Taashaq al Nagham (Words That Love Melodies), Lebanese actress Nidahl al Ashqar and her concerto presented a new style which attracted audience to two performances in Kuwait last week.

Al Ashqar and her troupe including Jahidah Wahbeh managed to present in her feature abstracts from forty different poems that appeared as one single poem. This was achieved through the strong interpretive performance by Randah al Asmar and Jihad al Andari with the help of singers Jahidah Wahbeh and Khaled al Abdulla.

“It is a poetic and musical feature in one script I prepared in a theatrical style that came as if was one single poem on love and land,” al Ashqar told the UAE daily al Bayan.

The artists took abstracts from poems of many poets including Onsi al Haj, Nizar Qabbani, Mahmoud Darwish, Suad al Sabah, al Jawahiri, Fadwa Toukan, Nadia Twaini, Amal Dunqol, Rabeah al Adawiyyah, Salah Abdel Sabour and Mohammed al Maghoot.

“There are other poets who have become inevitable for me and my features including Bader Shaker al Sayyab,” added al Ashqar -- Albawaba.com
