New Seven Egyptian Films Cost 35 Million Pounds

The Egyptian producers have allocated a hefty budget of 35 million pounds for implementing seven film projects hoping to wrap them up before the end of 2002, according to the daily al Messa. 

Three million pounds were allocated by the producing company for the film Hisan al Lail (Night Horse) scripted by Mustafa Muharram and to be directed by Adel al Aa’sar and which Nabila Ebaid has been tapped to take the starring role in. The film’s shooting is scheduled to begin next April. 

Preparations are currently underway for shooting the film al A’ndaleeb (Nightingale) scripted by Mahfouz Abdel Rahman, to be directed by Magdi Ahmed Ali and starring Ahmed Zaki. 

The renowned actor Noor al Sherif will star in three of these films which will cost 16 million pounds with two of them to be under his direction too. The first title which will cost three million pounds is Dakhlet Widad (Widad’s Wedding) in which his wife Pusy will costar along with him. The second title is Muntaha al Onf (Extreme Violence) in which actress Yusra will star along with Sherif with an allocated budget amounting to 2.5 million pounds. 

The third title is al Qaed al Aa’la (High Commander) which will be directed by Mohammed Fadhel and will be produced by the Media Production City. A 10- million pound budget has been allocated for the film due to the director’s need of filming at military sites in addition to aerial photography and the use of graphics which will be implemented in London particularly the scenes of air combats. 

The company which will produce the film Nasmah Fi Mahabb al Reeh (Nasmah Blown by the Wind) has allocated the sum of three million pounds for its film which will be directed by Mohammed Khan and costarring Laila Olwi, Maged al Masri and Sherif Munir. 

Also the renowned actor Mahmoud Abdel Aziz is gearing up to shoot his film Awdat al Sheikh Hosni (Return of Sheikh Hosni) under the direction of Daoud Abdel Sayyed. The 4-million pound film will be the second part of the original film al Kit Kat which was screened and aired by TV and in which Abdel Aziz played the starring role also. 

The last film is entitled al Mukayyef in which Lucy will play a starring role before Hussein Fahmi and Hanan Tork under the direction of Hadi al Bagouri with an allocated budget amounting to two million pounds -- Albawaba.com
