After a year and a half absence, Lebanese singer Nelly Maqdasi has returned to the scenes with a new album “Ouf Ouf,” produced by ‘Rotana’ and featuring ten songs in a mixture of Lebanese, Egyptian, Gulf and Bedouin dialects.
Nelly cooperated with a number of prominent composers for her new album, including Prince Turkey Al Sidery, Hani Al Zagheer, and Khaled Al Bakri.
The singer chose to film the album’s lead song, “Ouf Ouf,” in the form of a music video, and stated that she purposefully films only one music video for each of her albums.
Nelly chose Egypt for the filming location, despite the fact that the song is sung in the Lebanese dialect. The story of the clip revolves around a lover’s quarrel that leads the woman to leave him.
According to the London based daily, Dar Al Hayat, Nelly stressed that the she only dances in her clips when it is necessary, and if a certain portion of the clip does not require her to dance, she does not. Despite the stereotype that Lebanese women are provocative, she makes a sincere effort not to perform in a seductive manner, she added.
She does not support the new wave of female singers who use their appearance alone to gain notoriety, in certain circumstances lacking real talent, stated Nelly.
