Nawal Al Zoughbi calls for the reconstruction of Lebanon

Lebanese singer Nawal Al Zoughbi was held guest on the first episode of the popular Egyptian program “Al Bait Baitak” (The House is Your House) in its new Ramadan season and after Lebanese television broadcaster Razan Moughrabi joined the crew.

 

The program has been divided into three sections the first is presented by the usual host journalist Mahmoud Saed, which usually deals with political issues. The second part of the show is presented by Razan and Abbas and they talk about issues concerning men and women, usually including a social expert.

 

The final section of the program is specifically for hosting different artists and is presented by Tamer Amin and Muna Sharqawi. Nawal was particularly chosen to be the guest for the first episode and she began by wishing everyone around the Arab world a happy Ramadan and praised the Egyptian people stressing her extreme admiration for them.

 

According to the London based Elaph, Nawal talked about her experience during the recent war between Lebanon and Israel and how she had decided to remain in her country with her husband and children despite the fact that she holds a Canadian citizenship. The singer stated that some artists decided to stay and others preferred leaving Lebanon until conditions returned to normal, adding that it’s a personal matter and everyone acted in the way they felt was in their best interest.

 

Nawal stressed that she felt it was her duty as a Lebanese to remain in her country and help with the different relief efforts in the hoping of making a difference. She added that as an artist she had to set an example and send out a message to people everywhere showing them the actual sufferings of Lebanese people and how it is of dire importance to do everything possible to help rebuild Lebanon.

 

The singer said that she highly respects the different Arab nations in their generous contributions to rebuilding Lebanon after it was severely destroyed at the hands of Israelis, adding that it is of great importance that everyone pitches in to lend a helping hand in reconstructing Lebanon and making the beautiful country it once was.
