The Iraqi lute player Nasir Shammah performed many concerts at the Tunisian sixth park, and the cities of Sousah and Qafsah, according to the daily al Hayat.
The concerts come as part of the commemorations organized by the students of the Democratic Constitutional Assembly organization on the 50th anniversary of the Tunisian Student Union establishment. The organization has tapped Nasir Shammah to share the students their celebrations in appreciation for his attitudes towards Tunisia and its people.
In these concerts Shammah played some new musical pieces on the flute including A’la Haffat al Alam (On the Brink of Pain) which he chose as a title for his art tour. This is in addition to a piece entitled Emraah Fi al Thakerah (Woman in the Memory), a first time improvised playing on the flute and remaking, on his own way, of some important music pieces for the late Egyptian singers including Umm Kulthoom, Abdel Halim Hafez and Mohammed Abdel Wahab and others.
The program included also other music pieces which Shammah was famed with including al A’miriyyah, Bain al Nakheel (Between Palm Trees), Eshraq, Liali al Holm, Min Ashour Ela Eshbiliah and Etr al Yasmin.
Shammah’s concerts in the Tunisian capital come after a series of concerts which recorded smash hits in many cities as part of the al Madinah festival held last Ramadhan in addition to his ongoing concerts at the Egyptian Opera House in Cairo where he resides -- Albawaba.com
