Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram has recently returned from the UAE where she held a live performance at the Miss Young and Trendy beauty pageant. Upon her return, Nancy suddenly fell ill and was tied to her bed for three days, forcing her to be taken to hospital.

The singer returned home on the same day and was given strict orders from her doctor to refrain from holding any entertainment activities in the meantime and until her health condition improves. Nancy was struck with a severe case of the flue and had major pain in her chest and must follow doctors orders and take the needed medication in order to improve in the quickest time possible.

According to the London based Elaph, Nancy stressed that her new album, which is scheduled to be out in early 2004, will surely be a best seller and is in many ways better than her first album “Ya Salam”, which was a big hit bringing in enormous profits and proving her success as a singer.

After intensive negotiations were held between the music production company Rotana and Ajram for the joining of the singer to the company, a deal has finally been struck, which shocked everyone. Rotana’s offer to Nancy exceeded beyond everyone’s expectations by being higher than what most of the singers, who are already with Rotana and considered to be the heart of the music industry, receive.

It was revealed that the offer given to Nancy is for three million US dollars (equivalent to 20 million Egyptian pounds), and states that she must produce three different albums in the upcoming three years, which is the lifespan of the contract. Jiji Lamara, Nancy’s business manager, agreed to the offer immediately and advised Nancy to sign it once she is complete with her last album for her current production company Relax In.

On her part, Nancy denied receiving such an offer from Rotana saying that no agreement was reached between the two sides, not wanting to face any problems with her current production company since she is still tied to them and must produce one more album.

Ajram has won the Golden Lion Award by the Egyptian magazine "Huriyati" for the best Female Arab singer for the year 2003. Mohammad Nour El Din, chief editor of the magazine, personally presented Nancy with the award and stressed that she has deserved it through her hard work and her genuine talent to sing.

Nancy expressed her honor at receiving the award and stated that she is grateful to all Egyptians for making her path a successful one. After giving a word of thanks to the organizers of the event, Nancy stood on stage and performed a number of her popular songs that witnessed success in Egypt and the Arab world. –Albawaba.com
