Tariq Abu Judeh business manager of Lebanese singer Najwa Karam has announced that Najwa will not be performing throughout the month of Ramadan. The announcement came after several places announced they would be hosting the singer throughout their Ramadan entertainment agendas.
Abu Judeh told the London based Al Sharq Al Awsat that Najwa is currently occupied with the recording of her upcoming album. Most songs in the new album are chosen from a selection of Lebanese composers and musicians.
On a different note, Karam is taking time off for leisure at her home to work out her agenda for concerts and performances during the Eid Al Fitir holiday.
In early October, Najwa denied rumors circulating about her separation from her husband Yousef Harb, according to the London daily. A weekly magazine, whose name was not revealed, reported that the singer was to hold a press conference to announce her divorce, and explain the reasons behind the failure of her marriage.
For her part, Karam expressed her disturbance towards the rumors that are affecting her personal life now saying “from now on, I will not let anyone interfere in my personal life I will not reply, I will not deny, I will be drawing a red line for all.” Karam added, “I am happy with my life with Yousef, and what was reported is a lie intended to harm my image.”
Two years ago, Najwa Karam surprised her family and fans with her marriage to Harb, a successful businessman younger than her by several years, living in Canada at that time. Harb is well known for organizing musical concerts in the US and Canada, for the big names in the Arabic music world, including George Wassuf, Kazem Al Saher, Najwa Karam as well as others.
Karam made her debut in the music world in 1985, with her participation in “Layali Lobnan” (Nights of Lebanon) performing Asmahan’s song “Layali Al Ons” (Nights of Pleasure). She was awarded the program’s Golden Medal for her outstanding performance at the event. – Albawaba.com
