The US-British led war on Iraq has turned the world inside out, as people wait to see the outcome of such violence and injustice. The war has froze most activities in the acting world as well as in the music industry, with artists putting aside all entertainment to watch live coverage of events in Iraq.

According to the Arabic magazine Sayidaty, one of the singers who is most affected by the events of war is Lebanese singer Najwa Karam, who has stopped all activities relating to her career and is currently going through a state of utter despair and sadness. The singer watches in agony scenes of innocent Iraqi children and civilians being slaughtered in masses. Najwa's brother, Tony, told Sayidati that his sister has isolated herself from the music world saying she is unable to picture herself singing while people are being killed and a dear Arab country destroyed.

Tony added that Njwa had cancelled all scheduled performances and does not plan to return to the recording studios until the war is over and conditions in the region are safe and peaceful.

The singer recently completed the final touches of her upcoming album with music distributor Tariq Akaf, which is to be released in summer, under the production of the Music Production Company Rotana. Najwa had previously declined all offers to hold concerts around the Arab world in order to dedicate her time entirely to completing her album, which she regards her number one priority at the time.

Najwa had revealed in an interview that she does not plan to leave her current record company Rotana despite a number of disputes present between them. The main conflict between her and Rotana is the fact the company is loosing its prestige by adding so many new people to its list of singers and placing them with ones who have been in the industry for some time.

Najwa added that she is not against the idea of new singers, but rather against placing new comers at the same level as the more prominent singers who have had more experience in the world of music. She feels that those who have made a name for themselves in the music industry should not be categorized with those who are just starting out. Each singer should be placed at a certain level according to his/her accomplishments and not be regarded as a whole group just so the record company can make a profit. –Albawaba.com
