Egyptian actress Najlaa Fathi had officially ended her acting career on the day of her daughter's engagement. Najlaa has been slowly pulling out of the acting world for the past few months wanting to dedicate her time solely to her husband and daughter. In a personal interview at her home, Najlaa stressed that she is now the mother of the bride and the emotional atmosphere she has been living with her daughter made her stop and realize that the time has come for her to resign from her profession.
According to the Arab magazine Sayidaty, Najlaa said that she had achieved all her dreams in the acting world and has made a name for her self among some of the most prominent actors, feeling it necessary to stop in order to keep the beautiful memories she had throughout her career alive. She has cancelled all agreements to take part in any new films and TV series and has sent her apologizes to producers and directors.
Najlaa's last film was "Batal Min Al Junoob" (A Hero from the South) directed by Mohammad Ab Yousif and was filmed in Lebanon. The actress has received a number of awards throughout her acting career, the last being an award from the Rotary club for best Arab actress for the year 2002.
Najlaa is currently living a peaceful and quiet life with her daughter and husband, Hamdi Kandeel. The actress commented that she has given most of her life to acting and the time has come to dedicate the rest of her life to her family and home. Najlaa also announced that she will not be taking part in the film by Samah Anwar in which she was to star in with Omar El Sherif. –Albawaba.com
