Nadia al Gondi's agreement to star in the film al Raghba (Desire) along with Elham Shahin was a surprise, since Gondi has never agreed to collaborate with any other actress in films designed tailored for her alone.
Some have described Gondi’s recent cooperation with another star as a normal reaction to the slippage in her star power and diminished presence in the spotlight due to her insistence on performing in a specific type of film.
Among the most prominent film projects which have not been implemented yet is the proposed film Watani Fil Sama (My Homeland in the Sky) despite the fact that it was announced several year ago. Comedy stars Adel Imam and Duraid Lahham were chosen to star in the film.
Although both stars reiterate on every occasion their willingness to implement the project, their dream has never came true for different reasons.
Rumor has it that the role of Imam will be played by Mohammed Henaidi in view of the former’s regression and the attack he faced on a previous occasion.
But Lahham has denied that, reiterating that the film was scripted for Imam and himself alone. Lahham has repeated assurances of his friendship and appreciation of Henaidi but said that he had not been nominated to costar with him.
The rising status of Henaidi has caused the halting of his film project Tifa Watomah Fi Ard al Hokoomah, which was supposed to be the second cooperation project between Henaidi and Mohammed Fuad after their smash hit Ismaeliyyah Rayeh Gay.
But the details regarding the roles and sequence of the stars' names on the poster brought this cooperation to a halt. So he tried to make an agreement with the actor Hani Ramzi, but the latter sent his regrets, particularly after his rise to the top of the star list and hits at the box office.
The film, temporarily called al Rihlah (Journey), in which Mohammed Fuad was supposed to meet with singer Amr Diab, was halted too. Both artists said that the songs of the film, scripted by Ahmed al Beih and directed by Tareq al Erian, would be released in a joint album.
When the project came to a halt, rumors spread that the whole project was nothing but a bubble meant to respond to the alleged disputes between the duo Fuad and Amr.
Within the same framework, another proposed project for Diab was stopped. The project, which was supposed to be an occasion for him and the Lebanese singer Nawal al Zughbi to meet, has caused a dispute to erupt between the two.
Also, the meeting between Yusra and Laila U’lwi in one film remained for many years something anticipated. The film is entitled Yawm Ma Takabalna, to be directed by Taghreed al Asfouri and produced by Raafat al Mihi. This art project was halted without obvious reasons and may be due to regrets by one of the actresses to avoid embarrassment.
