Prominent Egyptian actress Nabila Obeid announced that the rumor of her nomination of controversial Egyptian singer Ruby for a role in her upcoming film is unfounded.

Nabila threatened the director, Khaled Al Hajar, to withdrawal from film if he insisted on his nomination of Ruby, or so the rumor goes.

According to the London based weekly, Laha, Nabila stated that she was shocked to learn of the rumor and stressed that neither she nor the director ever nominated Ruby for any role in the film “Ma Fish Ghair Kida” (Nothing more than this.)

“My new film does not have a role suitable for Ruby,” stated Nabila.

The cast of the film has been chosen, and the person who created the rumor was looking to publish a tale, she added.

With regards to Nabila’s opinion towards Ruby as an actress, she cannot judge since she has never seen Ruby’s film “Seven Playing Cards.”

Nabila has nominated young Egyptian actors Hanan Turk and Ahmad Razi for the roles of her children in the film, and has requested that Al Hajjar find a new face to play the role of her third daughter.

Nabila suddenly withdrew from the leading role in a television drama based on the popular folktale “Raya wi Iskeena,” also starring Nadia Al Jundi.

Nabila stressed that the role of the evil Iskeena, who murders innocent women and steals their treasures, is far too complex for television. She would be more comfortable tackling this difficult role on the big screen, where she is able to perform any role to perfection, she affirmed.
