After its first round, held a few days after the September 11 attacks last year, the Marrakech International Film Festival comes this year with a second round honoring late Egyptian actress Suad Hosni.
The London-based Asharq Al Awsat newspaper reported that the festival, held from September 28 through October 2nd, decided to honor the Egyptian Cinderella for her long dedication to the cinema, by screening some of her most beautiful films through out the four-day festival. These films include "Al Hob Al Da'e'" (The Lost Love), "Al Zaoja Al Thanya" (The Second Wife) and "Al Ikhtiyar" (The Choice).
Last June, a book released in Cairo on the first anniversary of Hosni's death has expressed certainty that the actress was killed and did not commit suicide.
In "Cinderella Speaks", author Munir Mutawee', states that the clues for Hosni's mysterious death could be found with Nadia Yusri, in whose flat the latest actress spent her last days.
The book also talks about the five poets, who discovered Hosni's singing and acting talents, confirming that some of these poets inspired their poetic creativity from her. In a separate section, Mutawee' tells the story of Hosni's love and secret marriage to the late singer Abdul Halim Hafez, "... after six years of secret marriage to Abdul Halim Hafez, they broke up. Abdul Halim refused to declare their marriage fearing to affect his career, despite that Hosni was ready to quit art for his sake.” – Albwaba.com
