Egyptian actor Muna Zaki was awarded an Oscar for her outstanding performance in the films “Al Ishiq Wa El Hawa” (Love and Romance) and “Dam AL Ghazal” (Deer Blood).
Muna’s husband actor Ahmad Hilmi accepted the awards at the Egyptian movie Oscars sponsored by ‘Arab Radio and Television’ (ART) and ‘EG Films,’ since Muna was traveling. Himi himself received an award for ‘best comedian’ for 2006.
The winners were selected by fans who voted via internet. Host and actor Safa Abu El Soud announced that “more than two million fans voted making it the largest on-line vote ever conducted in the Arab world.”
The Oscars were distributed by famous Egyptian actor Noor El Sharif, actor Samira Ahmad, and writer Wahid Hamed.
Ahmad Saqa was awarded an Oscar for ‘best actor,’ although he was unable to receive the award in person due to his illness. ‘Best actress’ went to Lebanese actor Noor for her role in the movie “Throof Tariq.” (Circumstances of a Journey).
The movie “Awqat Faragh” (Free Times), produced by Muhammad Mustafa, received an award for encouraging young filmmakers.
The movie “Amarit Yaqoban” received an award for ‘best film project as a whole’, and Noor El Sharif accepted the award.
